The American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM)

The American College of Sports Medicine is the leading and largest sports medicine and exercise science organization in the world. It promotes and integrates scientific research, education, and practical applications of sports medicine and exercise science to maintain and enhance physical performance, fitness, health, and quality of life.

Exercise is MedicineTM is ACSM’s new program aimed at making physical activity and exercise a standard part of a disease prevention and medical treatment paradigm in the United States.

ACSM Position Statements: ACSM develops position statements when enough research has been completed to support a position on scientific grounds.  Here, you will find a list of ACSM’s position statements on exercise-related topics.

The American Council on Exercise (ACE)

The American Council on Exercise is a nonprofit organization committed to enriching quality of life through safe and effective exercise and physical activity. It protects the public through its public education, outreach, and research. It also sets certification and continuing education standards for fitness professionals.

National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA)

The National Strength and Conditioning Association is the worldwide authority on strength and conditioning. It supports and disseminates research-based knowledge and its practical application to improve athletic performance and fitness.
