This self-paced program from Health Net Federal Services includes six sessions and a variety of options for weight management.

Healthy Habits Health Coaching Program

Military OneSource offers interactive online weight-loss tools for adult and teen military beneficiaries from all services. This program also features a personal health coach you can contact by telephone or online. The program does require registration for access.

Military Nutrition Environment Assessment Tool (m-NEAT)

This tool enables health-promotion professionals, commanders, and other stakeholders to assess how well the community is doing at making healthier options accessible. Replaces CHOW/DINE.

MOVE!

The Veterans Health Administration (VHA) developed this national weight-management program for Veterans. Using goals and a stepped-level approach, the MOVE! Program provides resources and guidance on nutrition and physical activity, including an extensive selection of brochures.

Navy & Marine Corps

The BUMED-approved weight management program. This official Navy intensive weight management program, also used by the Marine Corps, is available to active-duty personnel as well as family members and retirees who exceed healthy body weight or have weight-related health problems.

Mission Nutrition

The Mission Nutrition Facilitator’s Course is a standardized, evidence-based nutrition education workshop designed to provide Navy personnel with the education and tools they need to help reach their nutrition and weight-management goals.

Galley “Go Green” Program

Using identification labels, this program classifies foods offered in the Navy Shore Galleys based on calories, total fat, cholesterol, and sodium. By paying attention to the green, yellow, and red labels, you can select foods to promote weight loss or maintenance.

NOFFS Fueling Series

The Navy Operational Fitness and Fueling Series offers handouts and a meal-builder system involving five concepts: Eat Clean, Eat Often, Hydrate, Recover, and Mindset. The goal is to utilize the five concepts so Sailors will have adequate energy to perform their jobs effectively.

All-Navy Sports Nutrition

The All-Navy Sports program provides science-based information on nutrition, weight management, and hydration for specific sports, including cross-country events, marathons, and weight-class sports such as wrestling and boxing.

Fitness & Health Promotion

The Marine Corp’s Semper Fit Health promotion programs focus on nine subject areas, including Physical Fitness and Nutrition, with helpful resources that include handouts and brochures for printing.

Army Warfighters trainingSoldier Fueling Initiative & Go for Green Program

The Joint Culinary Center of Excellence website offers nutrition education, menu development, product selection, and preparation and serving standards utilized in the Soldier Fueling Initiative to improve readiness and increase Soldier fitness and performance.

The “Go for Green” nutrition labeling system provides Warfighters with a quick assessment of the nutritional value of menu offerings and food products in dining facilities. The menu offerings and food items are labeled green (eat often), amber (eat occasionally), and red (eat rarely) according to the impact the food can have on a Warfighter’s performance.

Army Weight Control Program [PDF]

This document establishes the policies and procedures for implementing the Army Weight Control Program, along with guidance for body-fat standards.

Army MOVE! Online Weight Management Program

An eight-week online weight management program, Army MOVE! is available to Soldiers, family members, retirees, and DA civilians. The website includes a variety of self-help tools and resources to manage weight through a healthy diet, behavior, and physical activity. Note: Requires AKO/DKO account.

Hooah 4 Health A Healthy Body

This U.S. Army health promotion and wellness website provides a weight management tracker for health and fitness goals as well as “Readiness Fitness” and “Readiness Nutrition,” along with general weight-loss guidelines and resources. A specific component, “Winning the Weight Loss Race,” provides strategies for healthy eating and weight loss.

Air Force

Air Force nutritional fitness, physical activity, and healthy weight programs.

Air Force runnersAF Fitness Program and BE WELL (Balanced Eating, Workout Effectively, Living Longer)

The AF Fitness Program has four scoring factors in its fitness test, which is given two times/year. Airmen who fail their PT test are automatically signed up for BE WELL, although it is also open to those who want to improve their overall health. This one-time class focuses on behavioral changes for personal fitness, healthy eating, and weight goals.

Shape Your Future…Your Weigh!

The Air Force Medical Service website has a Weight Gain Prevention Electronic Took Kit where users can access self-help tools and other resources to prevent weight gain through a healthy diet, behavior, and physical activity.
