PTSD Awareness Day

published: 06-22-2011 Journal entry icon

The Department of Veterans Affairs has made June 27th PTSD Awareness Day, and the National Center for PTSD website has a special section devoted to raising awareness of this serious problem among post-deployment Warfighters. This trauma condition may affect as many as one in five warriors returning from combat. Family members and friends are often vital in both the identification and the treatment of PTSD, so it is important to know how to recognize the condition, how to help, and where to get treatment. Visit the National Center for PTSD website to learn more.
